See you in 2013!

So, the world didn’t end and we can look forward to the new year.  But looking back on this past year, it was a little crazy.  I have been at UIC for one year now.  I can’t believe it!!!! My first semester was difficult at first, but I got used to it. After all, it was my first semester back in school after four years.  Yikes! I got two As last semester.  I was extremely proud of my 4.0 GPA! This semester was definitely more challenging.  Getting my grades was nerve racking.  I ended up getting an A and a B.  Now, I know I was sort of expecting a B in the class that had a million papers and a totally different grading scale, but I was a LITTLE disappointed that I ended up being right.  I mean, never in my life would I think that I would feel disappointed with a B.  I guess looking back on how hard I worked, I was hoping for a miracle.

On the upside, my GPA is 3.76.  Not bad! I have to stop being so hard on myself.

So, the New Year is upon us. Some of you will go out, some of you will stay in.  For anyone who is going out, please stay safe.  Plan ahead on how you are going to get around.  As for me, I still don’t know what I will be doing at this point.  But like I said last time, I’m going to try to be spontaneous.  Sometimes, the best times happen without planning.

Since it is after Christmas, I can share what I gave everyone:

-We all pitched in and gave my mom a computer.  She really needed one.

-My dad got a toaster oven.  I was actually pretty excited to give him that because our toaster and our oven aren’t the greatest.  The best of both worlds!!

-I gave my brother glasses for his condo.  He had a bunch of different kinds of glasses.  Now they all match!

-My other brother got the first two seasons of Louis C.K and a Jimmy Hendrix painting I did.

-My boyfriend got an iPhone, the “Batman” trilogy and some jeans.

-For my cousin, I gave her “Bridesmaids” and “Magic Mike” and a photo of us at a Blackhawks game in Toronto that said “Memories.”  So sad.

-For my best friend, I also gave her “Bridesmaids” and a picture frame with a photo of her and her new baby niece on the day she was born.

-For my boyfriends parents, a Rick Bayless cookbook and “The Hunger Games” movie, along with some coffee for their Keurig coffee machine.

-For the family I nanny for, I gave the parents a photo I took of the boys that was blown up and turned into a puzzle. For the boys, I took them to Chuck E Cheese.

Christmas was a success and now I’m broke!  Happy New Year everyone! Please be safe!! I’ll see you next year!!!
