I’m not a big fan of the month of January. It’s cold. It’s boring. I’m broke and bills are due. The one thing I am looking forward to is the NHL COMING BACK!!! That’s right folks! On January 19th we get to see our Chicago Blackhawks play again! I cannot wait! But before that happens, I have to get through my first week of class. I guess I am looking forward to school starting again (mostly). I do get excited when I buy school supplies. I don’t know why. I’m hoping this semester is more manageable than last semester was. I would definitely love to get my GPA up again. Speaking of my GPA, I got an email notifying me that I am in the top 15 percent of my class and was asked to join the Golden Key International Honour Society. I have been toying with joining, wondering if it would be a good idea. And honestly, why wouldn’t I join? I am proud of my GPA, even if it isn’t 4.0 anymore. It’s still pretty close and I worked really hard to get to where I am today.
My classes this semester are on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. I still get that lost freshman feeling on the first day of classes, schedule in hand, looking for my room, walking in circles. And that’s definitely a sure thing if you have a class in the Behavioral Sciences Building. I’m tellin’ ya, that building was MADE to make student lose their minds. When I had a class in that building, I knew the door I had to enter, how to get to my classroom and to the bathroom and pretty much DID NOT venture out of that area. I’d never make it out if I did. Even the Education building can be a bit confusing. I’m one year into my program and if I go up a different stairway, I have to walk around three times to find my classroom.
Aside from Christmas putting me back financially, I accidentally dropped my phone in the toilet the other day making me the new cast member of “Two Broke Girls.” Just getting over my cold, or whatever it was, I didn’t want to catch the flu from my mom. She had been using my phone so I thought I would be smart and wipe it down with Clorox Disinfecting Wipes. I brought it into the bathroom, and as I was wiping it down I wiped it RIGHT out of my hands and INTO the toilet. TOTALLY GROSS!!!! I will say there was nothing in there. THANKFULLY! So, I grabbed it as soon as I could. I wiped it off right away, left it to dry, and even put it in rice over night, which did absolutely nothing. The sales associate at the store couldn’t even get it to power up. So, I had to buy a new phone, thus making me one…broke…girl.
Here’s to starting the year off strong! Good luck to everyone on their first week of school!!
